There’s a whole lot of pruning going on at flower-shops like A Arrangement Florist in Spartanburg.

But if a dozen roses at 75 bucks are too steep… think potted.

“You can get like beautiful flowering plants, tulip plants, Hyacinth plants, Calla Lilly plants starting anywhere from $30. So that’s a big difference to the fresh flowers,” said florist shop owner Jerry Sipkin

What you say? Your sweetie won’t settle for anything but fresh cut.

Then scope out the coupons sites. Today we found discounts through DealTaker.com owned by Media General. It shaved 17 dollars off a bouquet from ProFlowers.com.

“If you do buy your flowers online, you may be getting them from a local shop. For instance this one here in Spartanburg works with Telaflora to make this Faith Hill arrangement so here’s what you’d be getting.”

Not a perfect match, but close.

For those of you who don’t need special delivery, you’d be hard pressed to find a better deal on flowers than Walmart. A dozen roses with the vase: $25.

“This is a dollar, this is a dollar”

As for other gifts, Ruth Free tells us she’s had plenty of luck staying within her budget with fun options like these $5 giant balloons and this $6 cake with a spot for your personal message.

“You can really give a nice little valentine’s present for $10 or less with candy and some of the trinkets.”

Don’t want to pay cent?

OK, put the kids to work at Lowes. The home improvement store is handing out free heart music boxes the kids can make 10 tomorrow… Ready just in time to give them to mom on Monday.
