Five Guys Burgers and Fries is expected to open at least three more restaurants this year, including the chain’s first unit in deep South County.

Three are in the planning stages for Tustin, Laguna Niguel and Fullerton. Opening dates have not been set for Tustin or Laguna Niguel, but the Fullerton Five Guys is under construction and could be open by early May, said franchisee Phil Ratner, who opened Orange County’s first Five Guys last August in Orange. His next Five Guys will open in Sante Fe Springs a few months later.

A closer look at the three new Five Guys:

Five Guys in Fullerton: 444 North State College next to Yoshinoya. Expected to open May 2.

Five Guys in Tustin: This restaurant has been on the books for quite some time, but I don’t know what the hold up is. It is planned at The District shopping center in Tustin. The franchisee for this area is Monument Restaurant Group. It owns the rights to open more than 250 Five Guys restaurants in four states, including 140 in California.

Five Guys in Laguna Niguel: This would be the first Five Guys to open in South Orange County.  The restaurant is planned for 32341 Street of the Golden Lantern in the Ocean Ranch Village Shopping Center, according to city planning documents.

The two other Five Guys are in Orange and Huntington Beach.

Have you been to five guys burgers? If the answer is no….you need to try it out at least once!
